Juni 11, 2012 · Posted in Allgemein

Modeling software lets designers create everything from Michelangelo’s David to shock absorbers. 3D printers deliver a rapid prototype to test designs before they go into production.

This shit is whack! Science Fiction only a few years ago! If you were told about this technology even a decade ago, would you have believed it?

eek! we’re becoming more robotic every day! :) cool design, great idea. how long does this take? i.e. the David like statue head? time may be considered before the death of manufacturing.. if it takes 6 hours for the sole printer to make the replica when a factory can produce the a similiar result in 2, the factory may still stand ground.. that is until they can modify the printing speed. wow this is great futurama life :)

While the investment in materials might be high, consider the cost in creating moulds or dies in the alternative. This machine represents the future of manufacturing, I think. In that it saves a hell of a lot of money in the above mentioned costs with old methods in prototyping.
