    All tales games are completely different and unrelated stories unless they share the same name(tales of Xillia and tales of xillia 2 as welll as the two tales of symphonia). So in this case, no you don’t need to play any other games to follow the story, but I would still recommend you to play the others you have the console for since they are all very good games.

    Well yeah, it wouldn’t be the first game I’d play in Japanese but it’d still be a pain until you get used to it.

    I agree with you, Tippo Jap Voice was SO ANNOYING! I like Rowen, Elise, Jude, Leia(She is annoying in both versions anyways), Alvin, Bad Guys voices, the only one I don t like is Milla (who is my favorite char in Xillia) but I guess just have to stick with it :( is a shame tho they didn t find any better voice acting for a strong character as she is…

    Not really you get the hang of it as you play, I played Xillia (JAP) and waiting for the US version to come, I didn t like Milla voice either but is “good” in a way the problem is when you listen the jap one before and hear this one next is something you should “deal” with lol.

    They murdered Milla, I was expecting Kate Higgins (C2, Code Geass) to voice her, it would have been perfect. That lisp is UNBEARABLE.
    Anyways, the game is cool, I’m having much fun playing it, but this is how I rank it, (The ones I’ve played)
    1. Symphonia
    2. Vesperia
    3. Xillia
    4. Graces

    It has MANY flaws, but it is still fun though.

    Milla’s voice worked for me most of the time. The only problem was when she was supposed to show actual emotion. Still, Sawashiro is a god-tier voice actress, my favorite in fact, along with Sugita who voiced Alvin, so her Milla voice is obviously superior to the English one.
    Jude’s sounded a bit too whiny, Leia was annoying, Elize wasn’t very good. The rest were okay but not great apart from Alvin that is.

    My main problem is just that they’re letting such an all-star japanese cast go to waste.

    I can’t actually read japanese, just understand speech.
    Menus would be too problematic to navigate.

    The english voice overs aren’t that bad. But yeah having more voice options is good. Tales of Xillia 2 is in Japanese dub, so if you got the $ for that then spend away.

    Yeah Tales games take a while. But completing them on the first playthrough is allright. Good thing you realize that work comes before Tales games lol. Cause one time in my life, Tales games came first before anything lol.

    Perfectly happy with the English dub, minus one or two voices. Japanese voices aren’t flawless, either – if you actually understood even a little bit of the language, you’d know.
