BONUS!!! I no longer need my voucher to see Thor: The Dark World, so I’ll throw that in too (see my previous message). So that’s essentially two tickets to see Thor (out in November) for free. My name is on it but when I used emoviecash voucher before they didn’t ask for my ID or anything. Just in case they ask your name, it wouldn’t do any harm to memorize mine, although if your mame is Debora, trying to pass yourself of as Daniel might be stretching things ;) .

First person to have $100+ of goodies shipped via bookmarklet’s Amazon link (costs you $0, nets fund $4 (4%)), gets code to see Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World movie (worth up to $12)! I’ve confirmed with Kellogg’s that code is good for movie (Marvel owned by Disney who also distribute film). Visit emoviecash(dot)com for participating cinemas. To claim, after items shipped, send me PSN or private YT message. You’ll need access to printer to print voucher (I printed mind at local library for $.25).

I’ve re-enabled support for YouTube ads (with auto-bypass for troublesome ads) as bookmarklet has always been advert friendly (with easy clicking of YouTube’s “Skip advert” button) and also, I don’t want to give YouTube any reason to block bookmarklet.

As previously, for really troublesome ads (resolution (video bit rate) + length too much for PS3 browser), you just need to be patient waiting for the bookmarklet to intercede.

Hi Misti. I used to have a smart looking Amazon banner, at the top of the home page, which netted me a whopping $0.0, so this is my latest fund-raising effort which to date has been just as successful ;-) .

With less than two weeks until the web server expires, I have one last idea up my sleeve, to get the word out and this time no one can escape :-) . It should be painless though, so fingers crossed.

what is the amazon link? maybe you could put it at the bottom of the ps3 book marklet home page. thanks

Hi Darryl. Some music videos haven’t played in a while with bookmarklet because the video feeds are protected by YouTube. I’d love to come to some arrangement with YouTube to allow you to play these, such as disabling downloads for these videos. If you’re getting this message for regular videos. please give details.

bro, mine is not working. i did what u said but its saying video not found, plz help me

  8. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 18:10

Noooo! YT’s “my_subscriptions” page (grid view) is no more (re-directs to feed, although I might have been the only one still using grid view?) and they’re delaying 480p (and 1080p) transcodes (anyone else notified this?), so have to watch latest vids in 360p (if check video next day, 480p is available).

  9. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 18:39

Just added support for Vimeo to Bookmarklet. As usual, for best results, stick with default video quality of 360p. One necessary difference with other plugin’s is you have to “click” asterisk to download a video (due to video feeds being via a re-direct).

On some Vimeo pages, such as Channels page, pressing cursor left / right loads the previous / next page of results, which makes it somewhat incompatible with PS3 remote. Using bookmarklet on these pages, fixes this issue.

    Enjoy :-) .

Hi YouTube (cont). If you’re interested in working with me on this, please email me. If you are indeed game, ideally, if you initially just enable something for my login (danny8bit), I could then work on it, without it effecting YouTube bookmarklet users. To everyone else, I know YouTube may never even see these messages or choose to not respond, but it would be for everyone’s (YouTube’s and ours) benefit and as I say “If you don’t ask, you don’t get” :-) .

  11. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 19:46

Hi YouTube. I’d be interested in playing video ads via bookmarklet’s player as ads could then be viewed in up to 480p and optionally, in full screen. As with YT player, clicking ad would open ad in new window and for specific ads, display “You can skip ad in” option with countdown. This is all possible in PS3’s WebKit browser (unlike old browser) because HTML elements (links etc) positioned over Flash player can be clicked. One possible issue is stability loading main video (playlist might fix).

  12. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 20:29

Since I put up my Amazon ad I’ve had around 20 uses of associated link (thanks), but, just in case you didn’t realize, the link is only effective where you use it for your actual shopping ($0 earned so far).

If you have even the slightest concern about the safety of link (I’m 100% with you), as YouTube description links are text only, they cannot take you to a completely different location. Even so, you’ll want to double check the domain (up to slash) doesn’t have sneaky misspelling :-) .

  13. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 20:58

You can now enjoy GiantBomb videos with the new PS3 Bookmarklet plugin :-) . Please can someone try selecting 720p (recommend a short video), which “should” be applied to the next video you load, but on my PS3 it doesn’t remember the associated cookie… If it does work, you may well want to switch back to 360p (roughly equivalent to YouTube’s 480p, as at similar video bit rate) as for long videos it probably won’t perform well. Also, ensure 720p video is paused before closing associated window.

It took a good part of the weekend, but I kept at it and finally worked out how to restore all the resolutions for DailyMotion videos.

As a bonus, you no longer have to turn off JavaScript when loading the video pages and for good measure I restore the missing video profile images (for some reason they don’t load in the PS3 browser). Enjoy :-) .

  15. DavieTheParkour on Oktober 3rd, 2013 22:03

    ok thanks :)

  16. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 22:26

Ah, right, you just need to also complete steps 2 and 3 (see Setup Notes, after steps 1-3 on how to edit the bookmark you create, or watch me setting up the bookmarklet at 9:11). Once you’ve completed all the steps, you’ll then be able to use bookmarklet on a video page etc by simply selecting bookmarklet from your bookmarks list (press Select etc). Bookmarklet’s can’t be automatically applied in the PS3 browser (would require a browser extension, which aren’t supported).

  17. DavieTheParkour on Oktober 3rd, 2013 22:32

ok, i have the playstation 3 bookmarklet bookmarked, i do the instructions (e.g. copy adress to link etc..) then i go on a random youtube video but its not your version, so i press start. erase text and paste the link then it goes to your version, the problem is i have to do this everytime i go back on my ps3 as the link does not save. sorry if that was confusing, kinda hard to explain. anyways, great video i might subscribe :)

  18. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 23:06

Hi DavieTheParkour. I’m a little lost. Why are you copying the address? To bookmark a web page you just need to press Select and then X or Enter. To re-load a bookmarked page, just press Select and choose page from list. If this doesn’t address your question, please feel free to provide further details. Facebook is on the wishlist (haven’t investigated yet to see whether video support is possible).

  19. DavieTheParkour on Oktober 3rd, 2013 23:10

do i have to press start and copy adress every time i go on the browser and every time i go on a new video? cant it save? also please make a desktop facebook version

  20. danny8bit on Oktober 3rd, 2013 23:28

Does anyone use the NeoGAF plugin? I just updated it, to accommodate the site’s new look and a couple days ago, to enlarge post images :-) .

  21. danny8bit on Oktober 4th, 2013 00:06

Now resume playback of advert, which can become paused if there’s any significant delay in using bookmarklet (previously, you could manually resume playback, by clicking bottom left corner of player). This was likely result of an improvement to YouTube’s video player API (pauseVideo() method now also applies to advert) and ensures you can watch the whole advert without any portion being obscured by bookmarklet.

  22. danny8bit on Oktober 4th, 2013 00:26

As regular bookmarklet users will know, when YouTube occasionally switches to HTT-PS, the bookmarklet works just fine (after an update – previously, you could manually switch to HTT-P, but now YouTube just re-directs back to secure page).

YouTube could quite easily break bookmarklet’s enhancement of video page (they’ve already tried it – man, that’s a day I don’t want to repeat – was that signature even crackable?), but given bookmarklet is advert friendly (within reason), why would they?

  23. danny8bit on Oktober 4th, 2013 00:34

Hey MTLKrib. Yeah, all’s good here. Are you still using Twitch plugin as with new channel layout etc, I can’t even get as far as video page (tried switching to old layout)?

  24. MTLKrib on Oktober 4th, 2013 01:15

She’s still going strong mate! :D You keeping well?

  25. danny8bit on Oktober 4th, 2013 01:35

Hi. To change address, you just need to press Start button. Instead of editing the the address (press L1/R1 to move text cursor, Square to backspace character and Start to submit address etc), to enter an address from scratch, you can press Square and L1 to delete all text. You may find the phone style layout (multi-tap) is quicker for text entry and to switch to this, click the keypad button in the bottom middle of dialog. To bookmark page, load page and press Select button and then X or Enter.
