Playstation Network and Sony To Offer Welcome Back Incentive

Hi everyone, I’m Andrea Rene and you’re watching Clevver Games. A few days ago Playstation’s Executive Deputy held a press conference in Tokyo offering apologies for the fiasco Sony has been dealing with for almost 2 weeks now. After what they describe as a malicious attack on their network, Sony shut down all online services for the Playstation to redesign parts of the network’s security. Online gameplay for Playstation 3 and the PSP are partially restored and will be fully online sometime this week. As a make good, Sony is offering PSN users a free month of Playstation Plus and complimentary entertainment content, which I’m guessing is like free movie downloads or something similar. This is a smart move because the Playstation Store will not be back online until sometime later this month. Around 78 million PSN users were affected by the outage around the globe with close to 10 million users credit card info at risk. Sony has enlisted the help of the FBI cybercrimes division to find the culprit. It was determined the intrusion occurred at one of their data centers in San Diego, California.     I think you were harder on them than necessary. That’s what I believe. This may have been a high profile attack but this kind of thing is something that could happen to many services. It’s the reality of doing business on the internet. Not everything is rock solid. Sony is being very generous and I’m sure that anyone directly affected will be compensated. In other words, give Sony a break.

    The people who cry about PSN being down for a month or that the games being offered for free are old need to really get a life. Those of you who have cried about moving to Xbox are welcome to, no one will miss you. You bought you’re Playstation to buy and play games, NOT to get a complete selection of brand new games to choose for free when PSN goes down. Pathetic cry babies. Selling your PS3 and going to Xbox because of this small malfuction is the true signs of spoiled little brats.

    Not really, so what if it’s free. For the money I paid for the console, to do some online gaming. Going from xbox to ps and then having your ps3 get the yellow light. Then all this shit. The ps3 cost more than the xbox did and I want my moneys worth. It wasn’t their fault no. But it would be unacceptable to offer nothing

    @G31S7 True. But remember that by buying a Playstaion system and being a part of the playstation network you agree to their terms of service and security. This goes the other way too, and when Sony were cracked and all the information was leaked they didn’t keep their end of that bargain by keeping it properly safe. This is only fair.
