Wie funktioniert Playstation, Wii, etc. genau?

Im Prinzip sind Spielekonsolen auch Computer. Allerdings läuft ein Hersteller-Eigenes Betriebssystem darauf, das nicht ausgewechselt werden kann. Auch ist es nicht möglich, beliebige Software abzuspielen. Außerdem ist die Hardware auf das Abspielen von Spielen optimiert.

Als Anzeige dient ein Fernseher, bei der PS3 kann es auch ein Monitor mit HDMI-Eingang sein.

Die Steuerung erfolgt über Controller, die mit PC-Gamepads vergleichbar sind. Bei allen aktuellen Konsolen (Wii, PS3, XBOX360) werden kabellose Controller verwendet, es kann also keiner über die Kabel stolpern wie das noch bei den vorgängermodellen war.

Während man bei PS3 und XBOX360 noch auf Knöpfe drücken muss, werden viele Wii-Spiele durch Bewegungen mit der Fernbedienung gesteuert. Was davon besser ist kommt zum einen auf das Spiel, zum anderen aber auch auf den persönlichen Geschmack an.
